Briedis: Chisora was paid too much for the fight with Wilder

Mairis Briedis, the former cruiserweight world champion, reacted to the recent fight between Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora.

"I said even before the fight that Chisora was not ready, either physically or mentally. In fact, the only thing that saved him was his endurance — he absorbed a lot of heavy shots. Chisora was taking far too many punches and dropping his hands too often, which is why he looked far from his best form. I believe he could have performed better, but he probably understood that this was his last fight. From what I heard, he earned about $2.5 million — for a fight like that, that is far too much."
