Olympic champion Price (9-0, 2 KOs) has not been in the ring since her convincing points victory over Natasha Jonas at the Albert Hall in March. Negotiations for a unification fight with WBO champion Mikaela Mayer are still ongoing.

But since the fight against the American is not yet agreed upon, Price’s promotional organization Boxxer decided to organize a title defense against another southpaw nicknamed "The Solution."

Price will become the first Welsh woman to headline a tournament on the BBC. The event will be broadcast live and free on BBC Two.

“Defending world titles at home in Wales means everything to me,” said Price. “I want to thank everyone for their support with another great performance. I never shy away from challenges. Stephanie Pineiro Aquino is a dangerous opponent, but nothing will stop me from winning on April 4 in Cardiff.”

“Lauren Price is not just a world champion; she is an icon of Welsh sport and one of the greatest athletes this country has ever produced,” said her promoter Ben Shalom. “We are incredibly proud to have organized a title defense for her in Cardiff, live on BBC Two. It’s a serious test against a first-class opponent, but such evenings are fitting for Lauren. April 4 will be another landmark event for her.”
