American boxer Gervonta "Tank" Davis, conqueror of three divisions, left a correctional facility in Miami on bail of $16,000. This was reported by his lawyer Simon Steckel on January 30th.
Davis was detained on January 28th in Miami after a two-week search announced by the Miami Gardens police. An arrest warrant was issued on January 15th on charges of assault and attempted kidnapping. According to the police, the incident occurred on October 27th last year in one of the strip clubs in Miami Gardens, where Davis allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend.
Lawyer Steckel immediately stated after his client's release that Davis in this story is a victim, not an aggressor, and promised to present all the evidence in court. The boxer was also issued a court order prohibiting him from approaching the victim and the specified establishment.
Recall that earlier the WBA transferred Gervonta to 'champion in recess' status amidst the developing scandal. In November 2025, due to the same charges, a high-profile crossover fight with Jake Paul, which could have brought Davis one of the biggest payouts of his career, fell through.
Davis last entered the ring in the spring of 2025āthe fight with Lamont Roach ended in a draw.
