KSI, the British YouTuber turned boxer, recently opened up about why he dodged a fight with fellow YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul. Despite being offered hefty sums of $20 million and $30 million to take on Paul, KSI revealed that personal standards outweighed financial gain for him.
While chatting on India's Beer Biceps Ranveer podcast, KSI explained that he's not swayed by money when it comes to his boxing journey. He said he gave the earnings from his fight with Tommy Fury to his trainers and noted that he’s done with boxing.
"I've been offered 20 million to fight Jake Paul, 30 million to fight Jake Paul," KSI stated emphatically. "My fight with Tommy Fury, all the money I made, I gave it to my trainers."
Among his reasons for stepping back, KSI mentioned stalled negotiations and what he perceives as Paul's reluctance. Despite repeated efforts to set up a match with Jake Paul, KSI claims excuses kept pouring in.
"I built Misfits, tried to fight Jake Paul time and time again. It's just excuse after excuse after excuse," KSI lamented.
On the other side of this saga sits Jake's brother, Logan Paul. Logan suggested that weight differences create a barrier between the two fighters. He classified Jake as being beyond influencer boxing levels and unwilling to cut weight just for a YouTube audience.
Tommy Fury, also sharing thoughts on recent events in the boxing ring discussed Jake Paul's loss against Anthony Joshua. Fury viewed that matchup more as a lucrative spectacle than genuine sport.
"It's all money isn't it? Money and s*#@ and whatever like that," Fury opined about Paul's defeat by Joshua.
Jake wasn't able to find answers against AJ's onslaught who hardly broke a sweat delivering the knockout punch in round six while cracking Paul's jaw for good measure. Both men earned substantial paychecks however; fair play says Tommy Fury commenting candidly.
