The final press conference dedicated to the Saturday fight between Damian Knyba (17-0, 11 KOs) and Agit Kabayel (26-0, 18 KOs), the interim WBC heavyweight world champion, took place. Here are some of the boxers' statements just hours before their face-off.
Agit Kabayel: "This event will breathe new life into boxing in Germany. Great achievements await me ahead, but for now, I'm solely focused on this fight and my next opponent. My coach has selected good sparring partners for me. Some of them were even bigger than Knyba. In the last three fights, I was considered an underdog. Now I'm the favorite, but that doesn't change anything. I'm writing my own story of German boxing."
Damian Knyba: "Agit didn't underestimate me, of course. I have great respect for him, but on Saturday, I will show the level I'm at and what I'm capable of. I will give my all in the ring. He will definitely try to put me in a defensive position, but I have my plan for this fight. It will definitely be an interesting and exciting match. On Saturday, I will showcase Polish strength."
'The winner of this fight will meet Usyk later this year,' added George Warren, one of the promoters of the upcoming tournament in Oberhausen, Germany, on January 10. The fight from Germany will be broadcast live on the DAZN platform. The broadcast starts at 19:45 Kyiv time.
