Jose Armando Resendiz (16-2, 11 KO) became the full WBA super middleweight world champion after former champion Terence Crawford recently announced his retirement.
In May, the Mexican won the interim World Boxing Association (WBA) title in the 76-kilogram weight class (168 pounds) by defeating Caleb Plant on points. In recent weeks, Resendiz's team has been negotiating a possible fight with Edgar Berlanga.
The Resendiz and Berlanga fight is tentatively scheduled for the first quarter of the new year. The WBA also appointed Bektemir Melikuziev as the official contender for a fight with the Mexican.
