In the wake of this action, Russian authorities claim that by seizing these assets, they aim to stop financial support for the Ukrainian army. Vladimir Konstantinov, who speaks for the Crimean parliament on behalf of the Kremlin, stated that individuals generating income from Crimea use it to support anti-Russian activities. This move falls under a law passed by Crimea's Republic Council in October 2022, permitting property confiscation from nations deemed unfriendly.

Usyk isn't the only individual impacted by such measures. Other personalities whose properties faced similar fates include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, and singer Jamala. Additionally, beyond personal assets like those of Usyk's, businesses such as Tavrida Plaza and TMM group have also been nationalized under Russia’s enforcement.

Sevastopol experienced comparable developments where eleven local businesses found themselves seized owing to alleged collaborations with Ukrainian authorities. Efforts continue from Russian forces to identify other assets that might threaten their security interests both within Russia and Crimea.

The escalation further highlights ongoing conflicts and geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine. As world observers watch closely, these actions underline the complexities involving international relations and personal freedoms during conflict periods.
