Everything sounded quite serious — a brain thrombosis and a broken neck — but fortunately, Huseyin Cinkara (23-1, 19 KOs) was eventually safely discharged from the hospital. Five days ago, the Turk challenged the IBF cruiserweight world champion, but Jai Opetaia knocked him out in the eighth round. Immediately after the fight, there were alarming reports that Cinkara ended up in the hospital.
Now the 40-year-old boxer can return home, but he still faces a long road to recovery. If the doctors released him from the hospital, it means that the serious injuries Cinkara sustained in the fight, fortunately, no longer threaten his life.
“The bleeding was very minor and, according to the doctor, has stopped, and the fracture in the area of the first cervical vertebra turned out to be just a rupture,” assured Cinkara's manager, Alex Metzger, to the fans.
