Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson plan to step into the ring together next year. The two boxing legends will face off in an exhibition match, with Mayweather at 48 years old and Tyson at 59.
Mayweather has already started sharing footage of his preparation for the event. Tyson, on the other hand, recently lost a fight to Jake Paul.
The announcement has got people talking, but not everyone's excited. Robert Garcia, a well-known trainer, doesn't think it matters much.
"Nobody gives a damn," Garcia said. "As long as they call it an exhibition, I'm fine with it."
Garcia pointed out some issues with these types of matches. He said there's no official winner, which takes away the excitement. He compared it to a potential exhibition between Gervonta Davis and Jake Paul.
"These shows become a 'circus'," Garcia added. "They don't contribute to professional boxing and shouldn't even be called fights."
Kalle Sauerland, who runs the Wasserman boxing promotion, also spoke out against the match.
"Madness," Sauerland said. "Tyson with one leg? Floyd with eight-ounce gloves and Tyson with 18?"
Sauerland questioned the rules and said the whole thing lacks clarity and seriousness.
While the match has created a buzz on social media, many in the boxing world aren't convinced. Some see it as just a way to make money and get people talking, rather than a real contribution to boxing.
The contrast with professional boxing is clear. In the same year, fans can look forward to a serious fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
Now, the question is: Will people buy into this Mayweather-Tyson exhibition, or will they see it as just another show?
