Jai Opetaia (28-0, 22 KO) would be happy to meet Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KO) right now, but he is not in a hurry to move up to heavyweight. The Australian wants, first and foremost, to collect all the belts in the weight category up to 90.7 kg. Nevertheless, he has been offered a qualifying fight for the IBF title in heavyweight against Derek Chisora (36-13, 23 KO).
Opetaia is enticed by the prospect of a fight with the Ukrainian, but heavyweight boxing does not yet captivate his imagination.
"I have long had a goal - to unify all the titles in the first heavyweight division. And that is what I strive for. The only fight that I would probably move to heavyweight for is the world championship title fight against Usyk. My main goal is to become the absolute champion in the first heavyweight division, and as soon as I achieve that, I will move up to heavyweight. I still have a long career ahead of me," Opetaia stated.
