When Jaron Ennis (34-0, 30 KO) announced his refusal of the WBA and IBF titles in the welterweight division and his transition to the weight category up to 69.85 kg, the World Boxing Council placed him at the top of the contender list in the new division without a fight, dropping Bohachuk to second place. A protest was filed almost immediately by the Ukrainian’s camp, and it turned out to be effective. Sergey will return to the top spot in the contender list in the new rankings.

We remind you that Ennis will debut in the first middleweight, facing Uisma Lima (14-1, 10 KO). The winner of the fight, scheduled for October 11, will become a contender for the WBA title. Bohachuk, in turn, will fight on September 13 in Las Vegas as part of the Canelo-Crawford card. His opponent will be Brandon Adams (25-4, 16 KO), who gave him his first career loss in March 2021.
