George Groves thinks Jake Paul would knock out Carl Froch if they fought today. The former super middleweight champ shared his thoughts on how his old rival might do against the YouTube star turned boxer.
Froch hung up his gloves in 2014 after knocking out Groves at Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 fans. Since then, he's become a vocal pundit who's not shy about sharing his views on fighters past and present.
Paul, who's 28, has fought 12 times as a pro with just one loss to Tommy Fury. He's now set his sights on winning a world title. Paul's even talking about getting a shot at a WBC belt.
Groves shared his prediction with Fight JOE, and he didn't pull any punches:
"Jake Paul beats him every day of the week, stops him. Froch is old, finished. I watched him on the bag it was horrendous. He was slow as f**k. He's trying to lure Jake Paul in. That's the only thing I can think. He's showing this mediocre work to lure Jake Paul in."
Groves thinks Paul's youth and speed would be too much for Froch. He also reckons Paul would get inside Froch's head:
"I hope Froch wins for us ex-pros but I don't think he will, I think Paul beats him. Too fast, too big, too nippy. Plus he'll get in his head won't he. I got in Froch's head. It's not the hardest thing in the world. Jake Paul 100% is king of the mind games, he's going to drive him f**king nuts, he'll ruin him. I hope it doesn't happen, I don't think Froch needs it, but if it does happen I'll be supporting him."
Froch claims he's still in shape and his media presence is strong. Some think he might actually be angling for a fight with Paul.
Paul's recent fights against Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr weren't that exciting. Now he's calling out Anthony Joshua. Froch thinks that would end badly for Paul, predicting a dangerous stoppage by 'AJ'.
