The rivalry kicked off when Markieff Morris committed a hard foul on Nikola Jokic. Jokic retaliated by hitting Morris in the back, leading to both players getting expelled from the game. Jokic got a one-game suspension, while Morris missed several games due to neck problems.
Now, the Morris twins want to settle the score in the ring. They made their challenge on "The Biggest Podcast with Shaquille O'Neal," where they called Jokic's action a "sneaky hit."
"The bigger they are, the harder they fall. We're big too. I'm 6'8" and 270 pounds. It's not like I'm a small guy. I'm bigger than them," Markieff Morris said.
The twins set some ground rules for the potential bout. Marcus Morris emphasized:
"Yeah, sure! We can get it as long as they don't use their feet, we can do it. Just boxing."
Their concern about foot action stems from Nemanja Jokic's MMA background. The other Jokic brother, Strahinja, became an internet sensation in 2021 for his mohawk hairstyle.
Shaq, initially reluctant to get involved, warmed up to the idea. "Well, they're still young, maybe I will organize it," he said.
Currently, both Morris twins are without NBA teams. Markieff is an unrestricted free agent after being traded from the Mavericks to the Lakers in February 2024. Marcus last played for the Cavs in 2024 and had a brief 13-day stint with the Knicks in September.
