Bob Arum, the boxing promoter who's worked with both Tyson Fury and Mike Tyson, thinks Fury would easily beat Tyson if they fought in their prime. Arum's view comes from his experience promoting both fighters and watching how heavyweight boxing has changed over the years.
Arum has seen the best heavyweight boxers up close for decades. He's promoted legends like Muhammad Ali and watched the sport evolve. Now, he's sharing his thoughts on a dream match-up between two of boxing's biggest names.
Tyson Fury retired in January after losing two fights against Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia. Before that, he'd become the WBC champion after his trilogy with Deontay Wilder and turned into a huge star in the US.
Mike Tyson, on the other hand, retired back in 2005. He was once the youngest ever heavyweight champion and the most feared knockout artist in the sport. Recently, he lost on points to Jake Paul, who's less than half his age.
So, would Fury's size and movement be too much for Tyson's ferocity and angles? Arum thinks so. He told talkSPORT Boxing:
"Well, there's no contest. Tyson Fury would beat him, he's way too big for him. What's Mike Tyson going to do, jump up and land a punch on Tyson Fury? Heavyweights now are so tall and agile, which they weren't before, that smaller heavyweights like Mike Tyson wouldn't be competitive with him."
Right now, Oleksandr Usyk is getting ready to fight Daniel Dubois. If he wins, he'll have a chance to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight ruler.
Many fans hope Fury will come out of retirement for a big fight with Anthony Joshua. Nothing's confirmed yet, but Fury has said he wants a third fight with Usyk in April 2026 if Usyk beats Dubois. Fury told ESPN about his plans for the future, keeping fans guessing about what's next for the heavyweight division.
