Andre Ward Reveals Surprising Pick for Usyk-Dubois Rematch: "He's Got More to Show"

This rematch comes after their first bout in August 2023 in Wroclaw, Poland. Usyk won that fight by stopping Dubois in the 9th round. But the fight wasn't without controversy. Dubois thought he dropped Usyk with a body shot, but the referee ruled it a low blow.

Since then, both fighters have made big moves in the heavyweight division. Usyk became the undisputed champion when he beat Tyson Fury in May 2024. He now holds the WBC, WBA, and WBO titles. If he wins this rematch, he'll make history as the first two-time undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.

Dubois has been on a roll too. He's knocked out Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua. His win over Joshua in September earned him the IBF title, setting up this clash for all the belts.

Andre Ward, a former two-weight world champion, shared his thoughts on the fight with Seconds Out. He thinks Usyk has the edge:

"It's a good fight but you've got to lean Usyk just given he's got more special effects, he can do more. Dubois is not super polished but he's very strong and polished enough. He can hit hard, we've seen him do that. There's an argument on if he dropped Usyk with the body shot. It's an interesting fight, it's a great fight."

British boxing legend Prince Naseem Hamed has also weighed in on the upcoming rematch, adding to the buzz around this heavyweight showdown.

The fight will take place at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday, July 19. Boxing fans are eager to see if Usyk can cement his place in history or if Dubois can pull off the upset and become the new undisputed heavyweight champion.
