Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford will fight for the undisputed super-middleweight championship on Saturday, September 13. The bout will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Former world middleweight champion Danny Jacobs shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash. Jacobs, who fought Canelo in May 2019, knows Crawford well and believes the fight will be close.
Well I didn't have time in sparring, but I had at least over 15 years of knowing him, amateur, professional. I've seen where he started, I've seen how he's gotten better over time but I also just know what resides in him.
Jacobs told Pro Boxing Fans that Crawford is "a dog" and "a beast" who's out to prove something. He sees the fight as a 50/50 affair but would personally bet on Crawford. Still, Jacobs cautioned that you can't count Canelo out.
Crawford will move up two weight classes for this fight. A win would make him the first male fighter of the modern era to become undisputed champion in three divisions.
Canelo has been a force at 168 pounds. He remains undefeated in the super-middleweight division with notable wins over Caleb Plant, Billy Joe Saunders, Callum Smith, and Jermell Charlo.
The fight promises to be a thrilling event, pitting two of boxing's best pound-for-pound fighters against each other in a historic matchup.
