When Oleksandr Khyzhniak won Olympic silver in Tokyo, Vitali Klitschko repeatedly stated that he wanted to bring him to the professional ring at any cost. However, Khyzhniak himself dreamed of Olympic gold. And he achieved it—last year during the Paris tournament, Khyzhniak stood on the highest step of the podium in a weight category of 80 kilograms, which was unnatural for him. Because, unfortunately for him, the middleweight category was not part of the Olympic program.

Everyone expected him to soon start his professional career, yet in his recent interviews, Khyzhniak does not exclude individual professional fights and even expresses interest in them, but admitted that he will mainly focus on defending Olympic gold in 2028 in Los Angeles.

Khyzhniak is not sitting idle; he trains and maintains his form, but if he is to follow his set goals, he will have to wait until the beginning of next year to return to the ring.

“I have already won everything that could be won and finished that game. I have gold medals from all competitions. And the world champion belt in professional boxing is something completely new. Therefore, I want to try my hand as a professional,” the Ukrainian stated in November, but it seems that time has shifted his priorities.
