Shawn Porter Voices Unexpected Concern About Canelo-Crawford Showdown: "It's Not What You Think"

Mexican superstar Canelo will defend his undisputed super-middleweight championship for the first time since regaining it against William Scull. Crawford, known as "Bud," will attempt to make history by becoming the first male boxer to be undisputed champion in three weight classes.

The fight is a joint promotion between Riyadh Season, Dana White's TKO Promotions, and Sela. In a groundbreaking move for boxing, Netflix will broadcast the event globally.

Shawn Porter, a former two-time world welterweight champion who retired after losing to Crawford in 2021, shared his thoughts on the matchup with Fight Hub TV. Porter expressed concern about Crawford's ability to withstand Canelo's power over 12 rounds.

"I am concerned about him absorbing a Canelo punch especially through the course of twelve rounds. [But] we do know this about Canelo, he's gonna slow down you know."

Porter thinks Canelo will try to start fast and break Crawford down early in the fight. This strategy could be crucial for Canelo, who's looking to end a streak of six decision wins with a knockout over his smaller opponent.

Crawford, who turned pro in 2008, has already achieved undisputed status at light-welterweight and welterweight. A win over Canelo would cement his place in boxing history as the first male fighter to be undisputed champion in three weight divisions.

The matchup has caught the attention of fight fans worldwide. It pits Canelo's power and experience at higher weights against Crawford's speed and technical brilliance. Crawford's last high-profile fight saw him stop Porter in 10 rounds back in 2021, showcasing his ability to finish even the toughest opponents.

As the fight date approaches, both camps will ramp up their preparations. With so much at stake for both fighters, this bout promises to be one of the most talked-about events in recent boxing history.
