Terence Crawford reached out to Nahir Albright to say sorry for his teammate's actions in a backstage fight. The apology came after Albright's bout with Kelvin Davis.
Crawford is getting ready for a big fight against Canelo Alvarez in September. They'll go at it for the undisputed super-middleweight championship at 168lbs. But before that, Crawford went to Norfolk, Virginia to support his teammate Keyshawn Davis.
Things didn't go as planned. Keyshawn's fight with Edwin De Los Santos got called off because he missed weight by over 4lbs. The WBO even took away his title. Kelvin Davis stepped in to face Nahir Albright for the WBC USA Silver super-lightweight title instead.
Albright won the fight by majority decision. But that's when things got messy. Keyshawn Davis got into a backstage brawl with Albright. A lot of important boxing people weren't happy about it.
Crawford and his trainer, Brian 'BoMac' MacIntyre, decided to make things right. They went to see Albright to apologize. Albright told FightHubTV:
"Bo Mac and Terence Crawford came in and was like 'sorry.' It meant a lot, I got a picture of us. I had to take in the moment."
Crawford hopes there won't be any drama like this when he faces Canelo. He's focusing on getting ready for that big fight now.
