Claressa Shields has made a bold prediction about Katie Taylor's upcoming fight against Amanda Serrano on July 11. The undisputed champion in three different weight classes believes Taylor will come out on top once again.
Shields, who calls herself the GWOAT (Greatest Woman of All Time), has a long-standing rivalry with Serrano. While Shields says she admires Serrano and has supported her throughout her career, she often criticizes her, especially since Serrano signed with Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).
When asked about the Taylor-Serrano fight, Shields didn't hold back. She said, "I think Katie will win again." Shields explained her reasoning, saying that Taylor is simply the better fighter and that Serrano is stuck in her ways.
"You can't teach an old dog new tricks," Shields said. She added that Serrano and her coaches are too set in their ways to make the necessary changes to beat Taylor.
This will be the third time Taylor and Serrano face off in the ring. Taylor won both previous fights according to the judges, although Serrano and her team claim they were the real winners. Shields responded to these claims:
"If they feel they won the fights, that's good-but the judges don't think you won either fight."
Despite her criticism, Shields insists she doesn't have any personal issues with Serrano. She said, "Amanda has some underlying issues with me, saying that I downplay her career or whatever she's talking about." Shields acknowledged Serrano's impressive accomplishments, including championships in seven different weight classes.
Shields also took a jab at Jake Paul's involvement in women's boxing. "I was supporting women's boxing before Jake Paul or anybody else even came around," she stated.
As the boxing world waits for the Taylor-Serrano rematch, Shields' prediction adds another layer of intrigue to an already much-anticipated bout. Whether her prediction comes true remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: the rivalry between these top female boxers continues to heat up both inside and outside the ring.
