Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney might face off in a big fight soon. The WBO super-lightweight champion Lopez could meet former undisputed lightweight champion Haney at a 145lb catchweight.

Dan Rafael, a respected boxing journalist, shared some news on social media. He said:

Per three sources involved, Teofimo Lopez-Devin Haney was agreed to Tuesday night, but not signed, for Aug. 16 in Riyadh at 145 pounds but fight is now in jeopardy after Teofimo's tweet storm.

Lopez, known as 'The Takeover', hails from Brooklyn and is 27 years old. He's been on a roll since his loss to George Kambosos Jr in 2021. His latest win came on May 2 against Arnold Barboza Jr in Times Square, New York City. The judges gave him a unanimous decision victory.

Haney, on the other hand, used to hold all the belts at lightweight. He also fought on May 2, beating Jose Ramirez by a wide points decision. Before that, Haney had a fight with Ryan Garcia in April last year. He lost at first, but the result got overturned when Garcia failed a drug test.

The fight looked set for August 16 in Riyadh. But things got complicated when Lopez went on a posting spree on social media. He claimed Turki Alalshikh from Riyadh Season had 'fired' him. Now, the whole agreement might fall apart.

This mess came right after Ryan 'King Ryan' Garcia lost in a shocking upset to Rolando 'Rolly' Romero. That loss messed up plans for a rematch between Haney and Garcia.

Boxing fans will have to wait and see if Lopez and Haney can sort out their issues and make the fight happen.
