Caleb Plant gets ready to defend his WBA interim super middleweight title against Armando Resendiz on Saturday, May 31. The fight will take place at the Michelob Ultra Arena in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas.
Plant, 32, won the title with a knockout victory over Trevor McCumby last September. That win came after a points loss to David Benavidez in March 2023. Before that, Plant knocked out Anthony Dirrell and suffered his first pro defeat at the hands of Canelo Alvarez.
Resendiz brings a record of 15 wins, 2 losses, and 10 knockouts to the ring. He started his career with 12 straight wins. His most recent fight was a knockout win over Fernando Paliza in February 2025. Before that, he lost to Elijah Garcia in 2023.
The event will air on Amazon Prime at 20:00 ET. Fight fans attending the venue will see a packed undercard. The co-main event features two-division former champion Jermall Charlo. He'll face Thomas LaManna at 168 pounds. Charlo's last fight was in November 2023, and he's looking to set up a future bout with Plant if he wins.
Las Vegas, often called Sin City, will once again play host to a big night of boxing. The Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay has seen many great fights over the years, and this one should add to that list.
