Carl Froch has shot down Darren Till's challenge to come out of retirement and step back into the ring.
The former super-middleweight world champion and Hall of Famer hung up his gloves in 2014 after a knockout win over George Groves at Wembley Stadium. Froch, nicknamed 'The Cobra', retired with an impressive record of 33 wins and just 2 defeats, cementing his place in British boxing history.
Till, a former UFC fighter, has recently transitioned to boxing under the Misfits promotion. He scored a points win over Darren Stewart and used his post-fight interview to call out Froch, claiming there was personal beef between them.
Froch responded to Till's challenge on his YouTube channel, dismissing the idea of a comeback:
"He's been calling me out. Chatting s**t basically. He got absolutely f***ing ironed out by [Jorge] Masvidal with a punch that clipped him on the chin. Can you imagine if a professional boxer, my sort of level, hit him with a right hand or a right uppercut. It would be absolutely wipeout, game over."
Froch didn't hold back in his assessment of Till's boxing skills:
"[He's] had a couple of Misfits fights, looked terrible. I think he had a win at the weekend."
While Froch has often teased a comeback for the right price, he made it clear he's not interested in fighting Till:
"I'm not interested. I don't want to fight anymore. If the money was there and it was big enough, I'd certainly take a look at it. But for now, one, you'd get demolished, and two, there's no real [money] in it."
The 'Cobra' ended with some advice for Till:
"Don't call my name out to give yourself credence. Just pipe down about the Cobra's name. You need to have a f***ing reality check mate."
Till has quickly become a star attraction for Misfits, headlining two of their cards. But it looks like he'll have to find a different opponent for his next fight, as Froch remains happily retired after 11 years away from the ring.
