Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr are set to face off in a 10-round cruiserweight bout on June 28 in California. The match pairs the YouTuber-turned-boxer against a former WBC world champion.

Paul has made a name for himself by taking on big names from the MMA world and recently stirred up controversy with a planned fight against Mike Tyson. Chavez Jr, now 39, brings a wealth of experience to the ring, including a 12-round battle with Canelo Alvarez.

Tommy Fury, Paul's former opponent, shared his thoughts on the upcoming match. Fury, who beat Paul by points in February 2023, said:

"I don't know, it is what it is, but put it this way, if I can box circles round him, a former world champion who's done 12 rounds with Canelo Alvarez and many great champions, he should be able to do one better, shouldn't he? But listen, age is a killer isn't it. He's fighting someone past his pomp, way past his pomp."

Fury controlled their contest with better fundamentals, though Paul managed to knock him down in the final round. Since then, Fury has been mostly out of the ring due to an elbow injury, with talk of a rematch with Paul still lingering.

The boxing community hasn't shown much excitement for the Paul-Chavez Jr contest. Many point to Chavez Jr's inactivity and struggles outside the ring as reasons for their lack of enthusiasm.

Despite potential promotion issues, Bob Arum has stated the fight will go ahead somehow. Fans can expect more details about the event as the date approaches.
