Floyd Mayweather Sr has put the brakes on rumors about his son's potential return to boxing. The elder Mayweather spoke out in response to speculation fueled by Manny Pacquiao's upcoming comeback.

Pacquiao is gearing up for a return to the ring after a four-year hiatus. The Filipino boxing legend will face WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios on Saturday, July 19, likely in Las Vegas. This marks Pacquiao's first fight since his 2021 loss to Yordenis Ugas.

Pacquiao's return has sparked talk about whether his old rival, Floyd Mayweather Jr, might lace up the gloves again. Mayweather Jr's last professional bout was against Conor McGregor in 2017, though he's kept active with exhibition matches, most recently facing John Gotti III last August.

Floyd Sr addressed the comeback rumors in no uncertain terms during an interview with The Mayweather Channel. He stated firmly:

"No deal. I'm telling you when I do it like that, you know what's up."

While shutting down talk of a professional comeback, Floyd Sr couldn't resist boasting about his son's abilities. He made a bold claim about Floyd Jr's potential dominance:

"I believe so. I really believe this, I'm telling you the honest truth. I'm telling you this right here, Floyd can whoop Pacquiao and then turn right back around, give him about a three round rest, then he'll come back and get Conor and I'm telling you, both of them going to sleep."

Floyd Sr's comments have put a damper on hopes for a Mayweather Jr comeback. For now, fight fans will have to be content with Pacquiao's return as they wonder what might have been.
