In the main event, a welterweight showdown for the WBA Regular World Title ended in a shock upset. Rolando 'Rolly' Romero scored a unanimous decision victory over Ryan Garcia, a result few saw coming.

Devin Haney continued his winning streak with a unanimous decision over Jose Ramirez. However, the fight drew criticism for its lack of action, a theme that seemed to run through the entire card.

Teofimo Lopez successfully defended his WBO super-lightweight championship against mandatory challenger Arnold Barboza Jr., rounding out the main fights of the evening.

Despite the historic setting, the event received largely negative reviews due to a perceived lack of action across the fights. This criticism led to some strong words from promoter Oscar De La Hoya, particularly aimed at Devin Haney.

In an interview with Boxing Scene, De La Hoya didn't mince his words about Haney's performance:

"I'll never, ever put Devin in with one of our guys. I won't waste my time with Devin because he runs and will continue running."

De La Hoya's harsh stance comes in the wake of a tumultuous period for Haney. His previous fight against Ryan Garcia, which initially resulted in a loss for Haney, was later overturned to a no contest after Garcia failed a drug test. This led to Garcia's suspension from the sport and the cancellation of a planned rematch between the two.

The event in Times Square marked a significant moment in boxing history, but not necessarily for the reasons the promoters had hoped. Instead of a night of thrilling action, it became a source of controversy and disappointment for many involved.
