Usyk, the 38-year-old Ukrainian southpaw, has had an impressive career. He won Olympic gold, became the undisputed cruiserweight champion in 2018, and now holds all the heavyweight belts. He's beaten big names like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, and recently stopped Daniel Dubois.
Bakole explained his confidence in an interview with iFL TV:
"Usyk, except me, beats everyone. Deontay Wilder I think is done. Usyk is a boxing man, boxing brain, boxing movement, I don't think no one will stop him right now expect Martin Bakole. I know why I am saying that because I learn boxing from my brother, a southpaw, I know how to stop and cut off the ring. But Daniel Dubois doesn't."
Bakole went on to express surprise at Usyk's recent victories:
"I was expecting Usyk to get beat by 'The Gypsy King' but I was shocked he beat 'The Gypsy King' twice. Joshua is good, tough guy, but he doesn't know how to cut the ring. Daniel Dubois will never change, he will just keep his style, but Usyk is [better] than him."
Despite his bold claims, Bakole's recent performances have been mixed. He fought to a majority draw against Efe Ajagba in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with many feeling he should have lost. Before that, Joseph Parker stopped him in two rounds when Bakole stepped in as a late replacement.
Usyk's skills make him a tough opponent for anyone. He's known for his footwork, mental toughness, fitness, and boxing smarts. His record as cruiserweight champion shows just how dominant he can be.
The Ukrainian champ will face Daniel Dubois in July, trying to become a two-time four-belt heavyweight champion. Bakole doesn't rate Dubois' chances, but the boxing world will be watching to see if Usyk can continue his unbeaten run.
