Mike Tyson gave a thumbs up to the 'Fatal Fury: City of Wolves' boxing event in Times Square, even though many fans weren't too happy with it.
The event, part of the Riyadh Season calendar, brought together 300 elite guests for a night of boxing. Turki Alalshikh organized the show, which got a big financial boost from Riyadh Season.
One of the main fights saw Ryan Garcia face off against Rolando Romero. Garcia got knocked down in the second round, leading to a surprise loss. Tyson's reaction to the knockdown got people talking. He yelled, "He's on the phone; talk to him, Ryan!" This made Shakur Stevenson laugh and quickly spread online.
Another fight between Devin Haney and Jose Ramirez didn't get fans too excited either.
Tyson showed up in a bright blue floral suit and sat ringside with Shakur Stevenson and Terence Crawford. They shared some laughs and hung out with KSI in the crowd.
After the event, Tyson went on Instagram to share his thoughts. He posted some pictures from the night and wrote, "Great fights and an epic fight night in." He seemed to focus on the good vibes and star power at the event.
But not everyone felt the same way. Many fans online weren't happy, saying the main fights weren't that great and the event didn't live up to all the hype.
Rick Glaser, who knows a lot about boxing, had something to say about it too. He wrote:
"Don't blame the guy that put up big money for what were supposed to be great fights; blame the fighters!!!"
Tyson's positive take on the event might come from his own experience as a boxer. He knows how tough it is to get in the ring. He might also understand all the work that goes into putting on a big show like this.
While people are still arguing about who's to blame for fights that don't wow the crowd - the promoters or the boxers - Tyson seems to want to focus on the good stuff. He's celebrating the moments that show how boxing can bring people together from all over the world.
