Canelo Alvarez and William Scull are set to face off in a big super middleweight unification bout. The fight will take place on May 3 at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, with all the world championships in the division on the line.
Scull, the undefeated Cuban IBF champion, has been vocal in the lead-up to the fight. He's ready to put on a show against the Mexican superstar.
"I want to go out there and enjoy it and see what happens. He's never been knocked out and maybe he'll get knocked out, but I don't know," Scull told DAZN. "I'm working for a big 12-round fight."
The Cuban boxer didn't stop there. He threw down the gauntlet to Alvarez, challenging the 34-year-old to try and stop him inside the distance.
"Let's see if he can knock me out as easy as people say," Scull declared.
At a recent press conference, Scull doubled down on his confident stance. He dismissed predictions of an early night as uninformed.
"These are comments from people who have no knowledge of boxing. The knockout goes out and the knockout happens, that doesn't mean one thing, one thing has nothing to do with the other," Scull explained. "I'm happy, it's my party, what I've always done in my life. I was the last guest and I'm going to be the last one to take the show, because that's how things happen in life."
Scull enters the fight with a perfect 23-0 record, including 9 knockouts. He claimed the IBF title last October with a win over Vladimir Shishkin in Germany.
Alvarez brings his 62-2-2 record to the table, along with the WBC and WBO belts. The Mexican star is coming off an emphatic victory over Edgar Berlanga last September in Las Vegas.
The stage is set for a clash that will crown an undisputed champion at 168 pounds. Scull aims to upset the odds, while Alvarez looks to cement his legacy as one of boxing's all-time greats.
