Scull, the undefeated Cuban boxer holding the IBF super middleweight title, spoke to DAZN about the upcoming bout. He had nothing but praise for his opponent.
"He is a living legend," Scull said. "Canelo's an example to follow for many boxers and many people worldwide."
The Cuban fighter believes his longer reach will give him an edge, but he's keeping his strategy under wraps.
"Weaknesses I can't tell you now because we are on camera and this is a strategy. We have a work plan. We have to be physically well and give him a great battle."
This fight has been in the works for a while. Scull revealed that they almost fought two years ago, but it didn't happen. Now, with a world title around his waist, the matchup has come to fruition.
Scull isn't focused on scoring a knockout. He's preparing for a full 12 rounds against the Mexican superstar.
"I want to go out there and enjoy and see what happens. He's never been knocked out and maybe he'll get knocked out, but I don't know. I'm working for a great 12 round fight."
Canelo Alvarez, 34, brings an impressive record of 62 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws to the ring. He currently holds the WBC and WBO super middleweight world titles. A win for Canelo would mark the second time he's unified all the belts in the division.
With both fighters showing mutual respect and determination, fans can expect an action-packed night of boxing on May 3 in Riyadh.
