Crawford just beat Israil Madrimov to win the WBA light-middleweight title. He won on points, but some people thought he didn't look his best. Now, he's moving up to super-middleweight to face Canelo. It's a big jump in weight, and that's got some folks worried.
In a chat with Club Shay Shay, Crawford made it clear he's not going back down in weight:
"I can't make 147 anyway, hell nah it's over. Man we're gonna go to 168, I ain't thinking about nothing but 168."
When asked if he'd retire after the Canelo fight, Crawford wasn't sure:
"I don't know, I can't say that. I don't know, that's what I'm saying. We might do a rematch you never know."
Before Crawford gets his shot, Canelo's got a fight of his own. He'll face William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh for the IBF super-middleweight belt. If Canelo wins, he'll have all the titles at 168 pounds.
That sets up a big chance for Crawford. If Canelo beats Scull and Crawford then beats Canelo, he'd be the first boxer ever to be undisputed champ in three different weight classes.
Crawford, known for switching stances during fights, will need all his skills against Canelo. The Mexican star is tough to beat at super-middleweight.
Canelo turned down a fight with Jake Paul to make this bout with Crawford happen. It's a fight fans have wanted for a while, and now it looks like it's finally going to happen.
