Dillian Whyte says Daniel Dubois will "kill" Derek Chisora if they fight for the IBF heavyweight title. The IBF plans to order this match next month, but Whyte thinks it's a bad idea.
Whyte shared his thoughts in a recent interview with Seconds Out. He didn't mince words about the potential bout.
"No, [Dubois] ain't going to fight, no. Dubois will kill Derek. He might actually die. Seriously."
Whyte believes Dubois has better options right now. He says Chisora should be at the bottom of Dubois' list of potential opponents.
Many fans agree with Whyte's view. They point out that Chisora has a lot of miles on the clock after 49 fights. Dubois, on the other hand, is much younger and known for his powerful punches.
Instead of fighting Chisora, fans want to see Dubois get another shot at Oleksandr Usyk. Dubois lost to the Ukrainian champion by knockout last summer. But a rematch could give Dubois a chance to unify all the heavyweight titles.
The IBF plans to order the Dubois-Chisora fight as a mandatory title defense. But it's not clear if the fight will actually happen.
Whyte knows a thing or two about dramatic heavyweight bouts. He's faced top names like Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker, and Tyson Fury. He won his last fight against Ebenezer Tetteh in December.
But Whyte's career has hit a snag lately. He recently had to pull out of a scheduled fight with Joe Joyce due to an injury. It's another setback for the popular fighter who's always been in the mix at the top level.
The heavyweight division continues to heat up. Whether Dubois faces Chisora or not, fans will be watching closely to see what happens next.
