Jarrell Miller wants to be the first boxer to beat Oleksandr Usyk. The American heavyweight has set his sights on the undisputed champion, vowing to dethrone him.
Usyk has been on top of the heavyweight division since May 2024. He became the undisputed champion by beating Tyson Fury and then defended his titles against Fury again in December. The Ukrainian won the rematch by unanimous decision, cementing his place at the top.
Now, Usyk's looking to fight IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois this summer. If he wins, he'll be undisputed champion once again.
But Miller, known as "Big Baby", isn't impressed. He's ready to challenge Usyk despite some setbacks in his career. Miller lost years of his career after failing a drug test before his fight with Anthony Joshua in 2019. Recently, he lost to Daniel Dubois and drew with Andy Ruiz in August 2023, though many fans thought Miller should've won that one.
In an interview with FightHype, Miller laid out why he thinks he can beat Usyk:
"I'm bigger, stronger. I throw more punches, I'm more aggressive. I have a better chin, I'm more durable than these guys. I was the most feared heavyweight in boxing for a number of years because of my punch output, my stamina, and how I come forward. I know with a full training camp, I'll f**king beat Usyk's ass."
Before he can get to Usyk, Miller's got to prove himself. He's set to fight Fabio Wardley in a stadium bout in Ipswich this June. If he wins, he'll face the winner of Kubrat Pulev vs Michael Hunter for the WBA Regular belt. That could lead to a shot at Usyk.
But there's a chance Usyk might hang up his gloves before Miller gets there. The heavyweight division's future is up in the air, and only time will tell if Miller gets his chance to back up his big talk against the champion.
