Joshua's last fight didn't go as planned. He lost to Daniel Dubois in September, getting knocked out in the fifth round. That loss cost him a chance to become a three-time heavyweight champion.
Now, Joshua could face Joseph Parker, who's currently the WBO Interim Champion. Parker also has to fight Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO title. The BBC reports that Parker is the mandatory challenger for Usyk's belt. If Joshua beats Parker, he'll likely get a shot at a world title next.
These two have fought before. Back in March 2018, Joshua won against Parker and added the WBO strap to his IBF and WBA titles.
Parker talked about why a fight with Joshua is still a big deal. He said:
"AJ is always going to be a big fight because he's a massive draw, and I think it's only AJ who can come off a loss to Daniel Dubois in the way that he did lose, and still draw a massive crowd because he's got a big following."
He also mentioned:
"He's been the poster boy for a long, long time, so he's always going to have that pull. You are always going to make good money fighting AJ because again, he puts bums on seats, and he's got the massive name."
Parker wants to set things right from his past losses. He explained:
"I would like to avenge the losses that I have, if I can't fight for the championship of the world against Usyk or Dubois. I would like to fight Anthony Joshua, Joe Joyce or Dillian Whyte to avenge those losses. I feel like I'm a totally different fighter now."
This fight could be big for both boxers. If Joshua wins, he could get another chance at a world title. For Parker, it's a shot to beat Joshua and possibly get his own title fight.
