Derek Chisora has set his sights on Daniel Dubois for his 50th and final fight. The 41-year-old heavyweight wants to cap off his 18-year career with a world title shot in March 2025.
'Del Boy' Chisora has been a fan favorite in the heavyweight division for nearly two decades. He's filled arenas and given fans plenty of excitement, even though he's fallen short in two previous world title attempts.
Many big names in boxing called for Chisora to retire after his bruising third loss to Tyson Fury in 2022. But the veteran fighter had other plans. He bounced back with wins over Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce, and Otto Wallin. These victories have pushed him to the number two spot in the IBF rankings.
The IBF was set to have Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba fight in an eliminator. But Bakole's recent loss to Joseph Parker changed those plans. Now, Chisora looks likely to be named as the next challenger for Daniel Dubois' IBF Heavyweight World Championship.
Chisora made his intentions clear on social media. He tweeted to Dubois:
"Daniel, Don. Fight 50 I want it ???? @258mgt ????"
When a fan suggested he "can" beat Dubois, Chisora corrected them:
"Not can. Will ????"
Dubois, at 27, has recently made waves in the heavyweight division. He stopped Filip Hrgovic to claim the IBF title and then defended it with an impressive fifth-round knockout of Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium.
Dubois had to pull out of a planned defense against Joseph Parker. He still wants to honor that fight, even though it means passing up a chance at an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk.
The IBF is expected to make the Dubois-Chisora fight official in the coming weeks. For Chisora, it's one last shot at glory. For Dubois, it's a chance to cement his place at the top of the heavyweight division.
