Floyd Mayweather says he's the best boxer ever, challenging Muhammad Ali's legendary status as 'The Greatest.'
Ali's name stands out in boxing history. He's the only fighter to win the lineal heavyweight championship three times. His fights, like the 'Rumble In The Jungle' with George Foreman and the 'Thrilla In Manila' against Joe Frazier, are part of boxing lore. Ali became more than just a boxer - he was a global icon.
But Mayweather doesn't think Ali's the best. Before he retired in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record, Mayweather said he deserved the title.
"I feel like I have done just as much in the sport as Ali. It is hard for a guy to be like me, still sharp at 38. No disrespect to Ali, but I feel like I am the best. Ali lost in his career to Leon Spinks. He lost some other fights and is still known as the greatest. That is what it is."
Mayweather told First Post he thinks he's better because Ali lost fights and he didn't.
'Money' Mayweather won world titles in five weight classes from super-featherweight to super-welterweight. He beat big names like Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez, and Oscar De La Hoya.
Mayweather ended his career undefeated in 2017, cementing his place among boxing's elite. But he's not the only one who thinks he's the best. Evander Holyfield, the former undisputed heavyweight champ, has also said he's the greatest boxer ever.
The debate about who's truly the greatest will likely continue, with fans and experts weighing in on the legacies of these boxing icons.
