Chris Eubank Sr has named Nigel Benn as the hardest hitter he ever faced in the ring. The British boxing legend described Benn's punches as "like dynamite" in a recent interview with CWC VIP.
Eubank Sr, who captured and held the WBO world title at middleweight and super middleweight in the early 1990s, is widely regarded as one of the greatest British fighters. He competed across three weight classes - middleweight, super middleweight, and cruiserweight - during his career.
The rivalry between Eubank and Benn was fierce, becoming one of the most intense feuds in British boxing history. They fought twice, with Eubank winning their first encounter in 1990. Their second meeting in 1993 ended in a thrilling 12-round split decision draw. Despite multiple calls for a third and final bout, it never materialized.
When asked about the hardest puncher he faced, Eubank Sr didn't hesitate to name his old rival. He said:
"It was Nigel Benn, he hit with what they refer to as dynamite. Some people hit you and its a knock, and however hard the knock is it starts dissipating immediately or the concussion or the impact of the shot starts dissipating immediately, with Nigel it stayed with you for like a second and a half."

Later in his career, Eubank Sr moved up to cruiserweight where he unsuccessfully challenged WBO champion Carl Thompson twice.
The Eubank-Benn rivalry will get a new chapter on April 26 when their sons, Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, face off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This fight is being billed as one of the biggest in recent British boxing history, continuing the legacy of their fathers' legendary feud.
