James Toney, the former world champion, thinks Terence Crawford will easily beat Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in their potential fight. Toney's bold prediction has got people talking in the boxing world.

Toney knows a thing or two about boxing. He's held world titles in three weight classes - IBF middleweight, super middleweight, and light heavyweight. In 1993, he won the IBF super middleweight title, the same belt Canelo grabbed 28 years later when he beat Caleb Plant to become undisputed champion.

Canelo's got a busy schedule ahead. He'll face William Scull in two months for the IBF title in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. If he wins that fight, he might go up against Crawford in Las Vegas this September.

Crawford's planning to move up 14 pounds to super middleweight for this potential clash. Many think that's too big a jump to take on someone like Canelo. But Toney doesn't see it that way.

In a chat with AB Boxing News, Toney said:

"Easy win [for Crawford]. Easy win. Trust me … Canelo is a good fighter, but he's not on James Toney's level."

Toney didn't stop there. He told ES News that Crawford will knock Canelo out.

The former champ didn't have many nice things to say about Canelo. He thinks he'd have beaten Alvarez easily if they'd fought in their primes. Toney also believes Canelo wouldn't have done as well if he'd boxed in earlier eras.

The Crawford-Canelo fight might happen in September in Las Vegas. But first, Canelo needs to win his fight against William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh. Boxing fans will be watching closely to see how it all unfolds.
