Gervonta Davis will knock out Jake Paul in a potential fight. That's the prediction from former world champion Shawn Porter, who believes 'Tank' will overcome a significant size disadvantage.
The boxing world got talking about this matchup after Paul beat Mike Tyson over eight rounds. The fight broke viewership records on Netflix. At the same time, Davis was involved in a controversial draw with Lamont Roach Jr for the WBA Lightweight World Title.
Davis took a knee in the ninth round of that fight. The referee didn't score it as a knockdown. This decision caused quite a stir.
There were rumors of a Paul fight if Davis had won. But those plans are now on ice. When asked about Paul as his next opponent, Davis didn't give a straight answer.
Speaking on The Porter Way Podcast, Shawn Porter shared his thoughts on the potential matchup.
"I don't want to see the Paul fight. It is an event. It doesn't make sense."
Despite his reservations, Porter made a bold prediction:
"I'm betting on Tank [by knockout]. You'd be surprised."
This prediction is surprising given the size difference. Davis fights at lightweight (135 lbs), while Paul weighs in around 200 lbs.
Davis, known as 'Tank', has 28 knockouts on his record. He's the current WBA Lightweight World Champion. His next fight will likely be a rematch with Roach Jr.
Paul, who started as a YouTuber, is looking to announce his next move. He's riding high after his win over Tyson and wants something big.
