Tyson Fury's Coach Reveals Unexpected Truth About Boxer's Retirement: "He's Actually..."

Andy Lee, Fury's former trainer, has shared some insights into the boxer's retirement and current state of mind. Lee, a former middleweight world champion himself, worked with Fury for several fights, including the Deontay Wilder trilogy.

These days, Lee's focus is on training Joseph Parker, the former WBO heavyweight champion. Under Lee's guidance, Parker has scored impressive wins over Zhilei Zhang, Deontay Wilder, and most recently Martin Bakole.

Fury's recent fights didn't go his way. He lost to Oleksandr Usyk by split decision in May 2024. The rematch in December 2024 saw Fury lose on all three judges' scorecards. Shortly after, at the start of January 2025, Fury announced his retirement in a brief video.

Lee shared some insights about Fury's current state in a recent interview with iFL TV. According to Lee, Fury seems content with his decision to retire.

"Andy I'm not f**ked," Fury told Lee, adding, "I couldn't be f**ked with it."

When asked about the possibility of Fury making a comeback, Lee said it would likely depend on the financial offer.

"As bad as it sounds, it depends what the figure is for Tyson. It has to motivate him to come out of retirement. He seems very happy."

The topic of a potential fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua came up during the interview. Lee expressed indifference about the matchup:

"I don't really care if they fight each other. I'd be happy to see them retire or go about their careers separately."

However, Lee added that if the fight were to happen, he'd back Fury to win.

Many boxing fans had hoped for an epic, legacy-defining fight between Fury and Joshua in front of a huge crowd this year. With Fury's retirement, that dream match-up seems to be off the table for now.
