Bob Arum, the legendary boxing promoter, thinks Terence Crawford would beat Floyd Mayweather in his prime. Arum's opinion comes from his vast experience in the sport, including his time promoting Mayweather.
At 93 years old, Arum has seen it all in boxing. He's worked with many great fighters, including Mayweather and Crawford. Even though Arum and Mayweather don't get along anymore after Mayweather left Top Rank, Arum still knows how good he was.
Mayweather retired with a perfect 50-0 record. He beat some of the best fighters of his time, like Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, and Shane Mosley. But Arum thinks Crawford could've beaten him.
Crawford, also known as "Bud," has won world titles in four different weight classes. What makes him special is that he can switch between orthodox and southpaw stances easily.
In an interview with ES News, Arum explained why he thinks Crawford would win:
"Crawford [would beat Mayweather]. Crawford fighting, a guy his size, is unique because one thing that he has that other fighters don't have is that he's totally ambidextrous. So when he shifts from orthodox to southpaw he's equally effective either way."
Crawford believes he can beat any fighter from any era. Right now, he's trying to set up a fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. To make this happen, Crawford will need to move up two weight classes. He'll likely make an offer for the fight at the start of next year.
