'Tank' Davis has built an impressive 30-0 record with 28 knockouts. The WBA lightweight champion just defended his belt with a knockout win over Frank Martin in the eighth round. Davis has also beaten big names like Ryan Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, and Rolly Romero.
Tim Bradley shared his thoughts about Davis in a recent interview. He said Davis is scared to step in the ring with Shakur Stevenson. Bradley explained, "If he wasn't, he'd be trying to make that fight happen."
Bradley doesn't dismiss Davis's talent, though. He called Davis "a tremendous talent and one of the best fighters in the world." But he thinks Davis needs to fight the best to prove his greatness.
Stevenson, the WBC champion, is getting ready for his next fight. He'll face Floyd Schofield on February 22. This bout marks Stevenson's return after recovering from hand surgery. The surgery forced him to pull out of a defense against Joe Cordina last October.
Meanwhile, Davis isn't sitting idle. He's set to fight Lamont Roach Jr on March 1 in Brooklyn.
Fans are eager to see Davis and Stevenson clash. It would be a unification bout pitting Davis's knockout power against Stevenson's strong defense. But for now, this dream matchup remains just that - a dream.
