Usyk, a former undisputed cruiserweight champion, started his heavyweight journey by beating Chazz Witherspoon. He then outpointed Chisora over 12 rounds in his second heavyweight bout. The Ukrainian went on to defeat Anthony Joshua twice, winning three major heavyweight titles. He defended those belts against Daniel Dubois before adding the WBC strap to his collection by beating Fury in May.
Fury's only career loss came at the hands of Usyk. He had previously beaten Chisora three times - once on the scorecards and twice inside the distance.
Chisora claimed that Usyk held back in their fight to lure Joshua into a world championship bout. That strategy paid off, with Usyk going on to dominate the heavyweight division.
In an interview with talkSPORT Boxing, Chisora shared his thoughts on why Fury lost the first fight:
"When Tyson fights, he fights for himself, when Usyk fights, he fights for his country. I don't think Tyson was 100% when he stepped into that ring. Maybe 'cause he had a massive cut, he didn't want to get fined 10 grand for missing the fight, he didn't spar, he was underprepared for that fight. The confidence was not there. He was mucking around for the first four of five rounds 'cause the confidence was not there."
When asked if Fury could turn it around in the rematch, Chisora didn't mince his words:
"I don't think so. I think Usyk stops him this time."
Despite Chisora's prediction, Fury remains confident about winning the rematch. He's even talking about a potential third fight with Usyk and plans to face either Dubois or Joshua afterward.
The heavyweight landscape has shifted dramatically since Usyk's arrival. The December 21 rematch will show if Fury can adjust to the challenge or if Usyk will cement his place at the top of the division.
