Paul has built a 10-1 record in his short boxing career. His only loss came against Tommy Fury, a novice pro, but he's managed to rack up wins against various opponents. Despite this, he's never faced anyone with Tyson's pedigree.
Bookmakers have made Paul the favorite. The massive age gap and difference in recent activity play a big part in this. There's also a general worry that Tyson might be asking too much of himself at this stage.
Roy Jones Jr, who fought Tyson in that 2020 exhibition, shared some interesting insights about the experience. He told Fight Hub TV:
"I was shocked at how good his defence is, how well he protected himself and kept himself out of harm's way. I think I landed one really good hook that I wanted to land, but it was really difficult to land anything else on him."
Jones, known for his incredible hand speed, found it tough to land clean shots on Tyson. He added:
"He's 58, [when I fought him] he was 54, he was just as strong as ever and he was still very elusive."
If Jones, with his speed and experience, struggled to hit Tyson, Paul might face an even bigger challenge. But the age factor can't be ignored – Tyson hasn't had a professional fight since 2005.
The bout will be a sanctioned fight with modified rules, including bigger gloves and shorter rounds. These changes might help Tyson, but there's still worry about his participation at his age.
Jones warned: "If you gamble with Mike Tyson, if he lands too you're not gonna win that gamble."
Fans can catch all the action on Netflix, which will stream the event live.
