Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are getting ready for a big boxing match. The two will face off on Friday, November 15, at AT&T; Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Shannon Briggs, a former world heavyweight champion who trained Jake Paul early in his career, has shared his thoughts on Paul's boxing skills. Briggs doesn't think Paul can challenge for a world title anytime soon.
In an interview with The Fumble, Briggs explained the original plan for Paul's career:
"The plan was to fight MMA guys. They got a bigger fan base, and they're not really good at boxing. That was the best way to build his career."
But things changed when Paul fought Tommy Fury in February 2023. Briggs said:
"He got beat up by Tommy Fury. That messed up the whole plan."
Briggs thinks Paul could become a contender, but it's not likely now. He pointed out that dealing with pain is a key factor:
"They ain't dealing with no pain."
Paul started boxing professionally in 2020 and has had 11 fights so far. His match against Tyson, who's 58 and hasn't fought professionally since 2005, has split opinions. Many are worried about the 31-year age gap between the fighters.
Tommy Fury, who beat Paul last year, has also shared his thoughts on Paul's skills before the Tyson fight.
The upcoming Paul vs Tyson fight is getting a lot of attention, with fans curious to see how the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer will fare against the boxing legend known as "Iron Mike."
