Amir Khan Suggests Surprising Opponent for Chris Eubank Jr: "It's a Better Fight"

None

Amir Khan thinks Chris Eubank Jr should fight Hamzah Sheeraz next, not Conor Benn. The former world champion shared his thoughts in a recent chat with BoxNation.

Eubank Jr and Benn were all set to fight in October 2022, but Benn failed a drug test. The fight got canceled. Now, both fighters want to make it happen. They even got together in the ring after Eubank's latest win over Kamil Szeremeta. But there's a catch - Benn's still dealing with the British Boxing Board of Control and UK Anti-Doping Agency.

Khan's not sure about the Eubank-Benn match-up. He worries about the weight difference.

"I think he might be a little too big for Conor but it depends how Conor change himself and puts the weight on."

The fight's planned for middleweight, which is two divisions above Benn's usual welterweight.

Instead, Khan likes the idea of Eubank Jr fighting Hamzah Sheeraz. He even thinks Sheeraz could win.

"With Hamzah, I would favour Hamzah in that fight with Chris. I think it would be a good fight for Hamzah, a great fight for his record and I think it will take him to the next level."

Khan suggests they could fight in Saudi Arabia.

Sheeraz, 25, has been the Commonwealth middleweight champ since 2022. He's fought 21 times and won 17 by stoppage. He's beaten tough opponents like Dmytro Mytrofanov, Tyler Denney, and Liam Williams. Many think he's earned a shot at someone like Eubank Jr.

There's been some back-and-forth about a potential Eubank-Sheeraz fight. Frank Warren, Sheeraz's promoter, says they offered Eubank £5 million, but his team said no. Now, Sheeraz has been ordered to fight WBO World Champion Janibek Alimkhanuly.

Khan shared his thoughts in an interview with BoxNation. We'll have to wait and see who Eubank Jr ends up fighting next.
