Mayweather, who guided a large portion of 'Tank's career before a bitter split, gave his honest opinion about both fighters during a recent interview.

A fight between Davis and Stevenson has got fans talking. It's seen as one of the most interesting style match-ups in boxing right now. Davis, the current WBA lightweight champion, is known for his explosive power. He's got 30 wins under his belt, with 28 of those coming by knockout. On the other hand, Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champion, is praised for his excellent defensive skills and his 'hit and don't get hit' approach.

Despite the interest, no deal for this fight has come close yet. In the meantime, Mayweather shared his views on both fighters in an interview with It Is What It Is.

"Davis and Stevenson are the best in the division. Gervonta Davis is the biggest puncher at 135. Shakur Stevenson is the most skilful fighter at 135, hands down."

Mayweather didn't stop there. He went on to stress the importance of skills in boxing.

"It's really all about skills. Look at Pernell Whitaker. He wasn't a huge puncher, but he was very exciting, very tough, and fought everybody. Shakur's trying to do the same thing. He wants to fight the best they got out there."

As for what's next for these two top fighters, Davis is set to defend his title against Lamont Roach Jr on December 14 at the Toyota Center in Houston. Stevenson, on the other hand, had to pull out of his fight against Joe Cordina due to a hand injury.

It's clear that both Davis and Stevenson have caught Mayweather's eye. Whether we'll see them face off in the ring remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that both fighters are making waves in the lightweight division.
