Martin Bakole is on a roll in the heavyweight division. The Congolese boxer knocked out Jared Anderson in the fifth round last August, dropping the previously unbeaten fighter three times in a dominant performance.
Bakole's recent wins over Carlos Takam, Tony Yoka, and Sergey Kuzmin have put him within reach of a world title shot. He's been pushing for a fight with Zhilei Zhang, but claims the Chinese boxer isn't interested.
Bakole took to social media to call out Zhang, saying:
"I came to give Zhang his shoes. He is running away. I am in Congo training hard for big Zhang, but I heard he said no to the fight. Your team is protecting you and don't want you to get knocked out."
Zhang, known as 'Big Bang', is coming off a knockout win over Deontay Wilder and might have other plans.
But Bakole won't be sitting idle. The IBF has ordered him to face Agit Kabayel in a final eliminator. The winner will become the mandatory challenger for Daniel Dubois' title.
Bakole seems fired up for the opportunity, saying:
"I am focused now on Agit Kabayel, so Kabayel be ready. Big thank you to the IBF for giving me this big opportunity, I am looking forward to being number one next year."
He didn't stop there, adding:
"Kabayel you are going to get it. Nobody will run away from this. I am the future, next year is my year. Bakole is the next king."
The heavyweight division is heating up, with Bakole vs. Kabayel joining other major fights recently announced. Fans can look forward to some exciting action in the coming months.
