Evander Holyfield thinks Oleksandr Usyk might be the only boxer today who could beat Mike Tyson in his prime. Holyfield, who fought Tyson twice, shared this view recently.
Holyfield knows Tyson's skills well. He beat Tyson in November 1996 to become the WBA heavyweight champion. Their rematch seven months later ended in controversy when Tyson bit Holyfield's ear twice and got disqualified. That incident remains one of boxing's most talked-about moments.
Tyson was a force to be reckoned with in the 80s and 90s. Many consider him one of the best heavyweights ever. In a recent chat with Mail Sport Boxing, Holyfield talked about how Tyson would do against today's top fighters.
"I don't know. I don't exactly know that one."
That was Holyfield's response when asked about a fantasy match between Tyson and Usyk. For other big names like Deontay Wilder, the Klitschko brothers, Anthony Joshua, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, and Tyson Fury, Holyfield felt Tyson would come out on top.
Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion in May after a close win over Tyson Fury. They're set for a rematch on December 21.
Meanwhile, Mike Tyson is getting ready for a controversial fight with Jake Paul, a YouTuber-turned-boxer, in November. But some people think this fight might not happen.
