Former middleweight world champion Gennadiy Golovkin has spoken out about his appointment as head of the Olympic Commission at World Boxing.
"It is important for me personally, as it is for the whole of Kazakhstan and the sporting world, to keep boxing as an Olympic sport and this will be a top priority of my work. I also intend to work closely with the International Olympic Committee on boxing's commitment to the Olympic values of integrity, fairness and transparency.
I am confident that my experience as a professional athlete will help to build a systematic work within World Boxing, and together we will be able to give a new impetus to the development of boxing, but there is still a lot to do".
